2021 has seen highs and lows, but here at hackajob we've had one heck of a year.
- We made more hires in 2021 than 2018, 2019 and 2020 combined.
- We generated over 50,000 matches between employers and engineers
- We saved companies over £5m on recruitment agency fees
From a record number of placements to a shorter time to hire than ever before; we've been raising the bar consistently and wanted to take a look back at what we've achieved and, more importantly, how this could help you. Let's get into it!
83: The amount of minutes in between every hire
In July a tech hire was made every 2 hours on hackajob. Yes, we know, that's pretty amazing by itself as it means the amount of people finding roles has increased. But what's more is that by November of this year we were seeing a hire made every 83 minutes.
What this tells us is that if you’re a developer - you are in high demand. What this also tells us is that if your company is looking for new tech talent, then you could have a new team pronto.
198%: The percentage increase for number of hires between 2020 and 2021
Yes, you read that correctly. A whopping 198% more hires were made in 2021 (and we thought we did pretty well in 2020....you know, all things considering we were in a literal pandemic).
What this shows us is that despite a huge change for the majority of the world in the way companies operate, the job market is starting to stabilise and demand for tech talent is higher than ever before.
1000s: The amount of technical candidates on hackajob who are women
Here at hackajob we pride ourselves on moving the dial forward in diversity, which is why we think it's really important to have a diverse group of candidates. From improving gender equality in tech to having talks and showing actions to show solidarity with tech talent, we understand the importance of having a diverse talent pool and we're committed to helping companies with this. (By the way, if you're wondering how you can be an ally, we covered this in our DevLab talk with Jennifer Opal here).
We also had events with Bumble – the app where women make the first move – and Discovery-direct-to-Consumer where we were joined by amazing developers who are paving the way for a new way of working. You can watch the even with Bumble here and sign up to our newsletter here to find out when we do similar events.
2: The amount of informative reports we published this year from our own dataset
We surveyed over 2000 candidates on our platform and got an incredible insight into What do Tech Talent Want in 2021 and The Great Disconnect: How Tech Talent & Employees Have Never Been More Misaligned.
17: Days on average to hire on hackajob
Tired of the long delay between trying to find the right person for the role and trying to expand the team in line with business needs? hackajob makes it easy, with 17 days being the average time to hire. From sourcing the right talent to interviews to securing the offer, hackajob is here to help every step of the way. Think we did well this year? We're going for even better in 2022!
30: The amount of days your company can trial hackajob to see for yourselves
The proof's in the pudding, so enquire about a 30 day trial here. We're so confident about this that we're going to leave with a mic drop...
11: The percentage increase that we saw in positive responses from interviews
When you're already doing well, it's hard to improve upon this but we wanted to try and raise the bar this year. What's the point in having loads of interviews if those applying for the roles don't accept the offers? This year we strived to increase the support we give our community and this impacted the responses positively. Love that for us!
1: The amount of DevLab events we ran this year
This year was special, we launched our brand new DevLab Podcast (which you can listen to here) and also ran our first DevLab conference; with speakers such as Dan Terhorst-North, Efua Akumanyi, and Jennifer Opal, we were spoilt for choice! Interested in the talks? You can catch the whole day here.
